  • December 7, 2018 Stephanie + Kyle

    Words from the Bride, Stephanie:

In 2015, Kyle and I went on our first date in downtown Detroit to a Lions game. When he proposed two years later, we knew we had to have our wedding in that same city where we fell in love.

The ceremony was held in the beautiful St. Hugo of the Hills Chapel, where Kyle grew up attending in the suburbs of Detroit. He got ready at his parents house close by and my bridesmaids and I got ready at the stunning Townsend Hotel.

It was a beautiful late October day with a slight chill in the air, so I was very thankful to have my great grandmother's mink stole for some of our outdoor photos. I also wanted to include something from my mom and grandma, so we had a purse made out of my grandmother's wedding dress adorned with one of her vintage brooches. Lastly, we had a dainty gold bracelet made from some diamonds from my mom.

The chapel was packed for the ceremony and the love in the room was palpable. It was truly our dream wedding.

Following the ceremony, we headed downtown Detroit for the reception. The bridal party made a pit stop for rooftop photos at a parking garage with the best views of the city. It was windy and we barely made it before sunset, but we couldn't be happier with how the photos turned out. My bridesmaids' steel blue Show Me Your Mumu dresses looked amazing with the groomsmen's navy suits.

Then the party began! Our reception was held at an old renovated theater located on Detroit's iconic Woodward Avenue. The moment we first saw The Garden Theater, we knew it's brick walls, romantic lights, and tall ceilings were the perfect location for our big day.

We kept the decor simple with greenery, white flowers, and plenty of candles. Some highlights of the night included our amazing live band and a donut/cupcake station by the bar.

It was the best night with all of our loved ones and the perfect beginning to our forever.
