    Words from the bride, Melissa

Oliver and I first met when we were 15 years old. After being friends for 8 months, he asked me to our Grade 10 TREK Prom, I said yes and we have been together ever since!

He proposed to me in our favourite place in the entire world, Tofino on our 7th anniversary! He wrote “Will You Marry Me Mel?” in the sand and had a picnic setup on a private beach for us!

For our wedding, we knew we wanted to keep it relatively intimate and invite the people who we felt have played important roles in our lives and our relationship.

I got ready in the morning with my bridesmaids, mom and mother-in-law at the Sutton Place Hotel in Downtown Vancouver & Oliver got ready at our apartment. We had Save The Date Beauty come to the hotel for hair & make-up and we were so happy with how we all looked!

We had our ceremony at Jericho Beach in the summer, it was such a beautiful location and the view was spectacular! It was our dream location!

After the ceremony, the wedding party stayed back at Jericho Beach while we had our photos taken. This was such a fun time to relax and let go after the ceremony! Once the photos with the wedding party were finished, Oliver and I got to sneak away with the photographer for a bit to capture some more photos of just the two of us!

Once all the photos were done, we all got back into the limo and headed to Edible Canada Restaurant on Granville Island, where the reception was taking place. When we arrived, everyone was holding a glass of champagne, ready for a big cheers!

The rest of the evening was amazing! We wanted it to feel pretty relaxed, so we opted for family-style dinner, with speeches before and after dinner. Once dinner was over, we snuck out again for a few evening photos and then came back, cut the cake, had our first dance & then the party really started!

Our donut wall was an absolute hit! Everyone loved it! Along with the polaroid camera we set out for people to take photos with!

Overall, it was the most perfect and wonderful day! We couldn’t have wished for anything better and feel so grateful that we had all of our closest family and friends there to celebrate with us!
