2019 Collection Namesakes

2019 Collection Namesakes

Ever curious where the names of our latest collection have come from? With our 2019 Collection, we celebrate 5 years of creating effortless gowns for the modern bride. We are also commemorating some of the humans that make it possible for us to continue doing what we do best. Alannah, Annie, Bea, Kyra, Meredith, Pamela, Sara, and Vincent (Vicki) — thank you for helping make Truvelle what it is today. Get to know the personality traits, including a few funny quirks about our 2019 namesake staff.

Alannah

Department : Production

When we hear "Who wants to grab a coffee?!" there is a strong chance it’s coming from Alannah. If you were wondering her go-to coffee, it’s an Americano w/ a “splish” of almond milk and probably paired with the biggest salad you have ever seen covered in avo & feta. When she isn’t preparing fabrics for the Garment techs, Alannah is often caught in the act of adding Drake or Travis Scott to the Spotify queue. She claims to make “wicked” playlists. Let us know what you think? @AlannahKennedy on Spotify.

Annie

Department : Garment Technician

The eye catching floral scoop neck dress encompasses our resident actor Annie. When she isn’t sewing wedding dresses you can catch her at a play or on your tv! If she bursts into laughter out of nowhere it is usually because she is listening to a comedy podcast that only she can hear.  On Annie’s off time, she is being mom to her pup Bootsy and hanging out on Bowen Island.

Bea

Department : Production

The modern timeless dress is named after our resident Taylor Swift lover. Leave it to Bea to keep us up-to-date on everything pop culture and her mains— Ariana Grande, One Direction & Selena Gomez. Some of our favourite stories are from the times she lived in Manila & New York. We look to her Instagram for the latest Glossier showroom photos. One of the most surprising things about Bea is her fear of butterflies & live fish.

Kyra

Department : Marketing

Our non-traditional, beaded dress is named after our girl of many trades Kyra. Formally in the Fulfilment department, she is now covering marketing & content for our sister brand Laudae. We leave it to Kyra to create beautiful photos & spaces, most recently the new Lovenote store in Calgary. In the office Kyra is usually caught eating her lunch at 10am, typically enjoying Thai green curry or poke bowls. When at home she is snuggled up with her pup Tuc, and yes he has an Instagram @tuctheberner, you're welcome.

Meredith

Department : Flagship & Fulfillment

The textured spaghetti strapped dress honours our former dual-positioned girl Meredith. On the weekends, Mere met with our amazing brides at the our Vancouver Flagship store. During the week, she was hands-on with our dresses in the Fulfillment department, making sure all of the dresses meet our exceptional high quality standards. When Mere wasn’t talking about food (usually tacos), she was in a deep discussion about the latest true crime podcast. Excluding podcasts, her number one listened to artist is King Princess, coincidentally her last concert in Vancouver before moving to Toronto.

Pamela

Department : Production

The modern yet casual chiffon a-line wedding dress represents our sweet Pamela. Pam keeps us on our toes with her interesting food combinations. A most surprising one of late is pringles & bananas, maybe she is on to something? The song that is guaranteed to get her on the dance floor is “In Da Club” by 50 cent, but during work hours her go-to's are Fergie & Michael Bublé. A most memorable fact shared during our summer staff retreat was that when she lived in Manila, she had a pet pig. Vancouver Pam doesn’t have a pig, but she had a knack for finding cute wildlife on her recent travels to Japan, Mexico & the Philippines.

Sara

Department : Marketing

The dreamy photogenic Sara dress is named after our marketing manager/positive vibe maker. This seemed only fitting, because its impossible not to smile while wearing the Sara tulle skirt. Sara keeps us in check for all things sustainable. She will thrift anything, even if it’s wrapping paper or a cardboard box. She is always prepared for everything, not even her leftovers for lunch can go without a mini parm grater if pasta is on the menu. Out of office, Sara is with her new husband drinking bourbon sours (must have: egg whites) and listening to The Tallest Man on Earth’s latest vinyl.

Vicki (Vincent)

Department : Garment Technician

The ultra romantic Vicki dress may come as a surprise as to who she is name after. The face behind the Vicki is our Garment Tech Vincent. Vincent easily has the loudest and most contagious laugh on the Truvelle team. His most common catchphrase is “It’s an easy fix, don’t worry” and that is one of the many reasons why we love him. We thank him for coming up with the tulle v cross in the beaded bodice of the Vicki dress, providing our brides with just that little extra coverage & security in the most beautiful way on their special day.
